Three Choirs Concert
Sunday, March 2
7:00 - 9:00 pm
About the Event
St. Stephen’s Choir joins the choirs of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. James’s Episcopal Church for this annual event. This year’s concert, being called “Concert for Peace,” will take place at St. James’s. The choirs, accompanied by orchestra, will sing Karl Jenkins’ Miserere: Songs of Mercy and Redemption. Jenkins dedicated the work to all who have suffered or perished in the Middle East over the last 70 years. The Welsh composer was moved by the desperate situation for the millions of people displaced and affected by the cruel effects of war, and hoped the healing and uniting power of music could bring together people of different faiths. Built around verses from Psalm 51, the multi-movement work combines several musical styles and varied texts from St. Thomas Aquinas to Rumi to Dylan Thomas. You can read about the instrumentalists on St. James’s website.
There is no charge for this community-wide offering.
