Sunday Suppers

6:30 p.m. year-round | No reservations needed | Donation-based

The Sunday Community Supper is donation-based; pay what you can. (If you want to cover the cost of your meal and the staff who prepare food and clean up, that’s $10.) Some people like to donate over and above the cost of their meal, since others are unable to donate. It all works out! Everyone is welcome, not just those who attend the Celtic service or Compline.

Volunteers work with staff member Claire Hackley to prepare, serve, and clean up. Please contact Claire if you can help. You do not need to volunteer every Sunday, and if you wish to step away to attend the Celtic service, you may. You also do not need to have advanced cooking skills–just a willingness to help.

Since our menus are based on fresh, local ingredients often purchased just before meal preparation begins, last-minute adjustments can occur. We recommend bookmarking this page so you can easily find it each week.

Menu for Sunday, December 15, 2024

  • Chickpea and potato curry
  • Basmati rice with peas
  • Pita bread
  • Salad
  • Mango cake

Sunday suppers will continue through December EXCEPT December 29, the first Sunday after Christmas Day.

Wednesday Suppers

5:45 p.m.-6:30 p.m. during the program (academic) year | No reservations needed | Suggested donations below

On Wednesday evening during the program (academic) year, St. Stephen’s offers an informal parish supper in the fellowship hall. “Wonderful Wednesdays” are a way to get to know others in this large parish, and the delicious suppers prepared by our coordinator of kitchen ministries and several volunteers provide time for families, couples and friends to reconnect at the dinner table without having to worry about meal planning, cooking or cleaning up.

Supper is served buffet style from 5:45 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The suggested donation for this supper is $10 for older children (age 10 and up) and adults, $5 for children age 9 and younger, and a family maximum of $30.

Wonderful Wednesdays suppers holiday schedule

  • No Wednesday supper on November 27, the evening before Thanksgiving Day
  • No Wednesday supper on December 4, when the annual Christkindlmarket will take place in the fellowship hall and courtyard; several vendors will have food available for purchase.
  • The final Wednesday supper of 2024 will take place December 11. The menu will be posted closer to the date.
  • On Wednesday, January 8, we will have Epiphany Lessons and Carols at 6 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by supper and a chili cook-off.
  • Wonderful Wednesday suppers will resume January 15, 2025.

Volunteer

Our supper coordinator, Claire Hackley, always welcomes helping hands to prepare, serve, and clean up with her. Please let her know if you’re interested in helping. You don’t need to volunteer every week, but we do ask you to let Claire know in advance to expect you.

We need volunteers for both Sundays and Wednesdays.
