About Robert
Robert is a nationally known organist and an acclaimed conductor of adult and children’s choirs. He has led large-scale music programs at several Episcopal churches, programs which have grown in both numbers and spirit. Robert has more than 25 years’ experience as a church musician and comes to St. Stephen’s from Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, where his husband, the Rev. Kyle Babin, is rector. Previously, Robert was organist and choirmaster at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Philadelphia; director of music at St. Paul’s Parish, K Street in Washington, D.C.; organist and director of music at St. Mary the Virgin in New York City; and assistant organist at Trinity Church, Princeton. He is sought after as a concert organist, workshop leader, choral clinician, and teacher of organ improvisation. Robert graduated from Westminster Choir College summa cum laude. He joins our staff as director of music on January 26. Kyle plans to join Robert in Richmond with their cocker spaniel, Beau, soon.
